We have hardwood floors, a few area rugs and this little vacuum does a great job everywhere. Best of all, it's small, easy to work with and carry. I love the retractable cord and the metal tubing extends easily and is sturdy and well-made. Formerly owned the Dirt Devil Breeze and the (bagless) plastic dirt container recently broke - I was happy to move to this better designed vacuum that didn't require me to deal with the dirt. The bag and canister area seems small on this vacuum, but I haven't filled it even halfway after a couple of thorough passes through the whole house. The distinctive design makes the chore a little more fun.

This is one killer little machine! Way beyond what I was expecting for the price, to be honest. It's small, lightweight, very easy to handle on stairs, etc., has an unbelievable amount of suction and is quiet. I recently had my old carpeting replaced with hardwood floors and was worried that my ancient Eureka (still working!) was just too heavy and might damage the floors dragging it around. So I ordered this little baby after reading some reviews, and the reviews were right on the money. The amount of suction is way beyond the Eureka, but moving it around is a breeze. I can't vouch for how it would deal with carpeting since I no longer have any, but I can say that if you have hard surfaces with a few scatter rugs, this thing is all you'll ever need. Because of the light weight, vacuuming won't seem like a chore. Required storage space is almost nothing. This machine was really well thought out. It doesn't have an exceptionally long cord, I guess they did that to save a few bucks, but hey, that's what extension cords are for, no big deal. The only other negative I can find is that I was expecting the brush attachment to be a bit larger than what it is, but it gets the job done just fine because of the strong suction. Everything else about it is great. If you're looking for a killer machine that gets the job done extremely well, is very light weight, easy to handle, and takes up minimal storage space to boot, this is your baby. Not to mention that the price is great!

**** Updated: It is now 4 days later and unfortunately I am going to have to return this vacuum, for 2 reasons. On about its 4th use, the cord is no longer retracting, it just stopped working for no particular reason. Also, I have decided this vacuum is really not powerful enough, so back to the store it goes.
One other feature of this vacuum that I thought was really nice, you slide the bag in to a frame and it seals when you close it - good design.
I just received this vacuum, which I purchased elsewhere (as I am in Canada and Amazon doesn't ship there). I was looking for a cannister vacuum, as I much prefer them over the upright and this one looked cute.
Well first of all, it is cute, cute pattern on this little vacuum.
The suction is what you would expect from a small vacuum. If you are currently using a powerful upright, this will not replace it. That said, as I mentioned in my title, this vacuum is really for hard floors, not carpet. While I can see using it if you have a couple of small area rugs only, if you have wall to wall you won't want this (although it does surface clean carpets, there is no deep down cleaning).
As for how it does on hard floors, seems just fine, picks up all the little bits and pieces on the floor. It is also quiet, compared to other vacuums I have owned, so that's nice too.
To sum up, if you are looking for a lightweight vacuum for cleaning hard floors and doing a bit of dusting and a few area rugs, this is a great little vacuum.
